Hyperbaric Chamber Oxygen Therapy is a medical treatment that involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized environment.
The increased pressure allows more oxygen to dissolve into the blood plasma, even beyond the oxygen-carrying capacity of hemoglobin, resulting in higher oxygen levels throughout the body.
This increased oxygen concentration in the blood plasma can have several benefits, including:
- Improved Healing: Increased oxygen levels promote faster healing of wounds, including diabetic ulcers, pressure sores, and surgical wounds.
- Enhanced Tissue Repair: Oxygen helps damaged tissues repair themselves more efficiently.
- Reduced Inflammation: Hyperbaric Chamber Oxygen Therapy can help reduce inflammation, which can contribute to pain and tissue damage.
- Improved Blood Flow: Increased oxygen levels can improve blood flow, promoting better circulation and nutrient delivery to tissues.
- Stimulated Stem Cell Production: Hyperbaric Chamber Oxygen Therapy may stimulate the production of stem cells, which can aid in tissue repair and regeneration.
It’s important to note that Hyperbaric Chamber Oxygen Therapy is a medical treatment and should only be administered with the approval of a qualified healthcare professional.
Each Chamber Session can last up to 120 minutes, though positive benefits accrue even with shorter sessions.
Under no circumstances should you exceed more than 2 hours of consecutive Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber Therapy within any 6 hour period.
The number of Hyperbaric Chamber Oxygen Therapy sessions you’ll need varies on the condition being treated and your individual response to the therapy.
We will suggest treatment protocols depending upon your concern and it’s important to note that the effects of Hyperbaric Chamber Oxygen Therapy sessions are cumulative. For most concerns we suggest that during your month long rental you complete sessions on at least 22 separate days.
All you need to do is breath normally!
We provide full instruction and even complete your first “mini-session” during our chamber setup/orientation.
After entering the chamber and securing the fasteners you sit, or lie down (depending upon the chamber size) while the chamber pressurizes. This process takes a few minutes and is vaguely reminiscent of descending from altitude during a conventional airplane flight (your ears may pop and need to be equalized).
As the chamber reaches pressure the relief valves begin to leak (you’ll hear a slight hissing noise) and your countdown timer starts. We recommend using your phone’s timer function to avoid staying under pressure for more than 2 hours.
During this period of your session you can relax, the use of electronics is permitted so use your laptops, e-readers, tablets or phones freely.
At the conclusion of your session use the remote control provided to shut off the air pumps and open the pressure relief valve, allowing the chamber to equalize. When the pressure has reduced and the chamber has softened up (again, 3 – 5 minutes), simply unzip, unclip and climb out!
The Chambers are designed to be able to self treat. However, if you are recovering from surgery and movement is difficult, you may find it easier to have a chamber buddy on hand!
Absolutely! BUT you MUST keep in mind the following guidelines
- Under no circumstance is the Chamber for overnight sleeping
- You should NEVER spend more than 2 hours in any 6 hour period under pressure
- You should NEVER disconnect the failed circuit alarm that we install at time of Chamber Setup
- You should ALWAYS set a timer with an alarm and a maximum time of 2 hours to ensure you do not exceed safe oxygen exposure.
Under no circumstances should a pet be allowed into the chamber whether it is inflated or deflated. If your chamber is located in an area where a household pet has access, it is a requirement of your rental that the Chamber be zipped closed when not in use.
Yes – the use of handheld electronics is permitted so use your laptops, e-readers, tablets or phones freely. Do not bring high voltage items into the chamber with you.
It should go without saying that if you are impaired at any level by drugs (recreational or otherwise) you should skip the chamber!
If you are suffering from an ear or sinus infection you should avoid using the chamber.
As with all medical treatments, there is the potential for side effects which include:
Ear Discomfort: You might experience ear pain, pressure, or popping due to changes in air pressure. This can usually be managed by equalizing pressure in your ears.
Sinus Pain or Pressure: Similar to ear discomfort, changes in pressure can cause sinus pain or pressure
Claustrophobia: The enclosed space of the chamber can trigger feelings of claustrophobia or anxiety
Temporary Vision Changes: Some people may experience temporary vision changes, such as nearsightedness, due to pressure changes in the eye
Fatigue or Lightheadedness: You might feel weak or lightheaded after a session, but this usually resolves with rest.
Low Blood Sugar: Individuals with diabetes might experience a drop in blood sugar levels during treatment.
Oxygen Toxicity: In rare cases, breathing pure oxygen at high pressure can cause oxygen toxicity, leading to lung damage or central nervous system effects.
Yes, children can benefit from Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber Therapy. While we do not have an age restriction we would remind you that ALL participants MUST have a prescription prior to undertaking a course Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber Therapy.
We recommend comfortable clothing for your Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber Therapy session. Remember – you are in there to relax!
Under no circumstances!
NO smoking or “vaping” of e-cigarettes can occur inside the chamber under any circumstances.
Under no circumstances should you take food or drink into the chamber.
It’s generally not recommended to undergo Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber Therapy when you have a cold or the flu. The symptoms of a cold or flu, such as congestion, runny nose, and ear discomfort, can make it difficult to equalize pressure in your ears during the treatment. Additionally, the increased pressure in the chamber can potentially exacerbate symptoms and discomfort.
It’s best to wait until your cold or flu symptoms have subsided before undergoing Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber Therapy.
In addition to our regular Pricing we charge a $75 setup fee and a $75 cleaning fee upon return. This assumes the chamber is returned in the same condition as received minus fair wear and tear.
Evidence of smoking or pets in the chamber will lead to additional charges.
